Safe Haven is a cat café/sanctuary in a suburb of Green Bay, that takes in special needs animals that would have been euthanized at a shelter. Does this not have my name written all over it already? Most of the cats come from an abusive environment and don’t exactly jump at the opportunity to be held or even pet by people. That’s where Terry Lauerman, the “Cat Grandpa” comes in. He’s a 75 year old retired Spanish teacher who walked into Safe Haven in 2016 to volunteer to brush cats. He even BYOB, brings his own brush.  According to MSN, he immediately fell in love with the cats and the fact that Safe Haven didn’t cage them and they were able to roam free. Terry has helped socialize so many cats and he’s also taken so many naps. That’s how he ended up going viral, with this Facebook post…..

We are so lucky to have a human like Terry. Terry just came along one day and introduced himself. He said he'd like to…

Tell me that’s not the cutest damn thing you have ever seen in your life. Since that picture has gone viral, the Safe Haven donations page has crashed from so many people logging on at once, they have gotten over $20,000 worth of donations in just two days and Terry has been featured on websites like Buzzfeed and even “Good Morning America”. The staff has been taking pictures of Terry napping with the cats for awhile now and they finally decided to put some up because they are just too cute to not share. Terry comes in Monday – Saturday for 3 hours a day and brushes, plays and naps with all the cats there. I bet that’s the only way he’s able to keep this up without taking all of them home– spending majority of his time there.

I love him, I love what he does and I want to be just like him when I grow up!
